NuqneH! I am the Cadet Commander on the Athena, and attended my first meeting back in March of 05.
And as for how I came to like Star Trek...Well, my mom had recommended a few science-fiction series to me, and had read all of them...and then she said something about Star Trek. I had always seen the Star Trek books on the shelves, but had never read any of them (this was back in March of '04). So...I started reading them...and then it started. Around the same time I also decided I wanted to start taping the shows (they were on while I was at school),
My only memories of Star Trek before then (once or twice my parents had turned it on before) were basically of the bald man, and the guy with the shiny, funny looking thing on his head. Soon I was watching...a lot of Star Trek. I liked the characters and the technology and how they portrayed the future. It gave me something to think about, as I didn't really have a hobby, or something to take up my free time with other than reading and school before.
I don't really have a favorite series. I like some episodes a lot from all of the series...but I guess I like DS9 the best. (I hate Worf's "page-boy" haircut from TNG) Though I really do like all the Star Trek series. My favorite Star Trek movies are all of the TNG ones (Insurrection being my favorite of those), and IV.
My hobbies outside of Star Trek...include alot of things. I guess my two main hobbies would be reading (mostly science-fiction) and martial arts. I have been doing a form of martial arts called Hwa Rang Do since 5th grade. Other than that, my hobbies include a variety of arts and crafts (you wouldn't believe how many craft kits and craft supplies I've managed to accumulate), Sea-Monkeys (instant pets!), and horse-back riding (until my aunt and her horses moved to Missouri), and baking (deserts mostly). My other interests include archery and fencing.
Over the summer I've been practicing with the cross-country team, and plan to do wrestling (don't laugh!) and track and field for my other two sports. In middle school I was involved with a lot of teams and activities and plan to do the same in high school.
Qapla'!
