COMMUNICATIONS

Ensign Jen Novis

Hi, my name is Jen Novis and I am a Communications Officer aboard the USS Athena.

How did I come to love Star Trek?  Actually, every star trek series that I like I always got into AFTER the show was canceled.  I was never a fan of Star Trek until after TNG went off the air.  Once the reruns were on everyday I started watching it and became absolutely addicted.  Once they stopped running the reruns (and there were no DVD box sets yet) I was craving some more Star Trek and started watching Voyager reruns everyday.  Once they stopped rerunning Voyager (actually they started running them at the ABSURD time of 3:00 am.  I tried it for a while but just couldn't keep it up) the DVDs started coming out and I got into the rest of the remaining series that way.  However, TNG and Voyager remain my favorite.

What is my favorite Star Trek series? TNG, closely followed by Voyager.

What are my favorite Star Trek movies? Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, First Contact, Insurrection

What are my hobbies (outside of Star Trek)? Reading sci-fi, fantasy, spirituality books.  Studying and reading psychology and mythology.  Playing video and computer games  (especially the Sims 2 University!)  Spending time with and co-leading a Wiccan spiritual group.

What do I do for a living? I am 27 and live in Arcadia (which is right next to Pasadena) and am currently a substitute teacher for children from K-6.  I am also getting my teaching credential and Master's in Education.

ENGINEERING

 Lieutenant JG Pablo Miramontes

Jurassic Trek August 2005

Aquarium of the Pacific October 2005

I am an Ensign in Engineering.  I started watching Star Trek the original series when I was nine years old and there were reruns on late-night television.  I liked the idea of traveling to distant planets to meet exotic Beings.  This also got me interested in science and I began to watch NOVA and shows like that.  When Star Trek: The Next Generation came out, I immediately saw that it was much more interesting to me because it was more scientific in nature.  I also liked the latter series, but I think Star Trek: The Next Generation is what really got me hooked.  Star Trek: Voyager was excellent as well, and there was much good material there.

Out of all the Star Trek movies, I would have to say that First Contact is my all-time favorite.  The Borg are a very interesting species and they make a strong adversary.  After that, I would say that I like Nemesis second best, although some might disagree.  I say this because the action between the two ships was intense.  I would have to say the CGI was excellent.  On that note, I think that the older series had particularly good storylines.

I still like to watch documentaries and, although my taste has become a bit political as of late, I still rent a lot of NOVA and engineering documentaries.  I like to listen to some classical music, some Latin music, and some pop.  I particularly like Latin romance, but who would have guessed.  I love to do stuff on the computer, even thought I am always on it. I am a Software Engineer, and I currently work for Los Angeles Unified School District.  I have been doing this for over five years and I like it, although it is a bit challenging at times.  I also make websites on occasion for friends and family.  I consider the environment to be very important and so does my family, it is what we will leave the next generation and will determine whether humans ever go extinct or not.  We practice recycling, and grow our own food at home.  Actually, my parents grew up on a farm but that is another story.

OPERATIONS

Lieutenant Commander Sheila Koon

My name is Sheila Koon. My current rank is Lt. Cmdr. 3.  I have been a member of IFT for seven years now. I've been a Trek fan all of my life. I grew up on TOS re-runs late night on KCOP. I can't choose one series over another, they each possess qualities I love. My favorite would have to be First Contact. I have always been a fan of the Borg! In fact, it was assimalation that brought me to the Athena. My previous ship disbanded and I was brought on board.

I am a manager for Henry's Marketplace in Laguna Niguel. I've worked there almost four years. I also live in Laguna Niguel. I've made it my home for almost ten years. Aside from Star Trek and all other sci-fi I have many other hobbies. I love music, going to the beach, any kind of outdoor sports, and video games!!!

My name is John J Lucey. I am an Ensign, Blue Division.  I began watching Star Trek when I was seven years old but introduced to the world of science fiction before that by my Mother who is a long time science fiction fan. I remember watching the Original series as reruns.

My favorite series is Star Trek Deep Space 9. I like the characters and the plot lines.  The first Star Trek movie I remember seeing was Wrath of Khan.  My favorite Star Trek movies are Wrath of Khan and Star Trek First Contact.

I enjoy working outdoors. I have been collecting comic books for years now. Recently I've started a sword collection that is growing. My taste in music ranges from punk rock and hard rock to classical.  I work as a high school grounds keeper for the Long Beach Unified School District. I am fan of all science fiction.

Ensign Bryant Roskelley

I was 10 years old when the series ended in 1969, but I have no memory of the show. I was a "Lost in Space" fan. I didn't get interested until the reruns of the early seventies. I remember the animated show very much. I still recall episodes even after 30 years or more. I wish it was on DVD. I'm only a casual fan of The Next Generation and not at all of the other spinoffs. I do watch the movies though.
